And the technological demand will only get greater, but there may be a problem in meeting that demand. Simply put, what do you think would happen to those iPhone 3, 3gs, 4 and 4Ss? While there are many recycling programs out there, most of the Smartphones are not thrown out efficiently. This has resulted in a major reduction of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) leaving the earthÂ’s natural resources near the end of their supply. The rate at which REEs getting depleted, future generations may not have the luxury of sustainable technology unless we do something about it.
