Having tenure, actually allow them to teach with more freedom and provides them with a sense of security that canÂ’t be found everywhere. Tenure was officially introduced in the United States in 1915 by the A.A.U.P. in their Declaration of Principle on Academic Freedom and Academic Tenure. And it still exists because people have been killed for their teachings. Young professors aspire to have tenured positions at universities. But itÂ’s also turning many tenured professors lazy and inflexible over time, thanks to so much job security they possess.
